I hate dealing with paperwork. Unfortunately, if I want to be paid, it’s a necessary evil.
When I first started freelancing, I didn’t have an organized system of forms that I kept on hand for immediate retrieval.
So, when a client would ask for a quote, or request an invoice, I had to go and hunt for the necessary forms and paperwork.
You may think to yourself, “Big deal? ” But, you know, over time, the minutes or hours lost adds up if every time you needed it, you had to go and hunt for the necessary form.
Create a system for all your business forms:
You probably have figured out that I’m a big believer in automating your business as much as possible. Especially those tasks that I really hate doing!
A good idea is to make a list of those forms and documents that you use on a regular basis and make sure that you have them handy in one place. Either in a folder in your drawer or in one place on your computer.
Here’s a list of some key documents you may want to keep on hand:
- Agreements
- Contracts
- Creative briefs
- Forms
- Invoices
- Letters
- Meeting agendas
- Pricing
- Privacy statements
- Proofs and approvals
- Proposals
- Terms and conditions
