Freelance Graphic Design PortfolioThe other day I was talking about how repetition is one part of being consistent.

Consistency is really about behaviour. It’s the pattern you establish in your design as well as your business. You must do everything consistently; that is, all the time.

Why should you be consistent?

When you are consistent, you show that you are dependable, professional and up-to-date. You give the impression that you are constantly maintaining your image and clients know what they can expect from you.

What are some of the things to be consistent in:

  1. Typographic rules you follow. Read some of these in my newsletter Typography Rules
  2. Whether you use clip art or pictures in a design
  3. Style of photographs and illustrations used
  4. Same margins throughout
  5. Same background images / tints
  6. Date you update your newsletter
  7. Reinforcing your brand
  8. Updating your site and blog
  9. Using a focal point or picture
  10. Meeting your clients expectation
